The mighty Kenai river. Known for its Sockeye salmon which had already run --leaving the river empty of fishermen
First day out we flew in and landed on a beach while the tide was out and of course set up camp in pooring rain.
No mistaking these -- bears! And of course they found us!
After catching fish the sow with three cubs sniffed us out and popped up 100 yards downstream. We let them have what they were after and came back later to find everything eaten -- even the stringer!
Camping on the beach meant shifts to keep the fire going and be on bear watch!
